CONTENDERS FOR SUPREMACY DEFAULTS MAY DECIDE. Waimate’s win by default from Athletic and the victory of Hawera over Kaponga. in the southern first junior fixtures on .Saturday leaves the divisional supremacy open to a possible play-off between Waiinate and Hawera. Waiinate who won by default from Opunake the previous week has to play Kaponga to complete the series, while llawera completed its engage-j incuts nn Saturday. Waiinate lias been beaten only by Hawera, Hawera has lost to Waiinate and Qkaiawa and drawn with Pa tea. It is still possible, however, for the two teams to finish, on ©ven terms even though. Waiinate are successful against Kaponga, as both Olcaiawa and Patea have defaulted in two games. According to rules 18 and If) of the Taranaki Rugby Union provisions governing Cup contests, any team forfeiting two matches shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the contest by default and in such an event any matches played by such team shall not count. The three points lost to Okaiawa and Patea should, therefore, revert to Hawera leaving the latter, as they have completed the series, two points ahead of Waiinate who may equalise the tally by defen ting Kaponga,
