BOXING.
McDonald beats turner. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, Aug. 13. McDonald, 10.11 (Palmerston North), defeated Turner, 11.2 (Rai Valley), Wellington Centre middle light-lieavy champion, to-night in a special bout at the Marlborough Boxing Association’s amateur tournament. It was a furious encounter, marred by a good deal of holding in the early rounds. The winner proved a clever boxer, showing superior ringcral't. He refused to make the contest open, which would have suited the Marlborough man. The judges disagreed after four rounds. The verdict in favour of McDonald was given a mixed reception after an extra round.
COLBY OUTPOINTS PARKER. (Australian Press Association.) SYDNEY, Aug. 13. Peter Colby (10.12) outpointed Vince Parker (10.12), New Zealand, over ten rounds at the Sydney Stadium to-night. Parker forced the fight in the early rounds, evading Colby’s swings and scoring well with body punches. Ho tired towards the end. The decision met with a mixed reception.
