The King has approved the following appointments of colonial governors: Brigadier-General !Sir Frederick Guggisberg, late governor of the Gold Coast, to be governor of British Guiana in succession to Sir Cecil Rodwell, whose appointment as governor of Southern Rhodesia has been approved. Sir Edward Brands Denham, colonial secretary at Kenya Colony, tio 'be governor of the colony of Gambia in succession to Sir John Middleton, whose appointment as governor of Newfoundland was recently announced. The Prime Minister, the R't. Hon. Stanley Baldwin, has asked Lord Ilailshaui, Lord Chancellor, to act for him while he is absent on holiday at Aix les Bains. It is understood that if it. had not been for his illness Sir Austen Chamberlain, Foreign Secretary, would have been appointed act-ing-Prkne Minister as he was during Mr Baldwin's recent absence in Canada.
M.r G. W. Mclntosh, general manager of the National Bank of Now Zealand, retires on pension ait the ’end of this year. Mr G. T. Grose, inspector of the Bank of jSTcw South Wales- for New Zcabin'd, succeeds him. (states a fhress Association message from Wellington). He joins the National Bank on September Ist, and takes' over the general management on. January Ist. Mr McIntosh joined the National Bank at Greyimoiuth in .18 75. Mr Grose is a native of Australia. He was connected with the board of administration which controlled the uomimonwealth Defence Department during the war.
