GREAT BRITAIN’S BUTTER.
THE SOURCE OF HER. SUPPLIES A statement of the British Ministry of Agriculture received by the Commonwealth Department of Markets, shows that more than half of the butter imported into Great Britain is supolied by two countries, Denmark and jNew Zealand, the former sending the larger proportion. In the last four yeans imports of Danish butter have averaged 1,823,030 cwt., or nearly onethird of the total receipts from all sources, while in 1927 her contribution very nearly reached 2,000,000 cwt. New Zealand butter has averaged 1,188,01 lOcwt., or a little more than one-fifth of the total. Australia comes third with an average of about 765,OQGcwt., or 13 per cent of the total, but Australian supplies show much wider variations than those from other sources, some l,l6l,ooGcwt. arriving in 1925, but only 489,000 cwt last year.
