FLOJMO'A CO AST STORY. The Miami i (Florida) correspondent ui' the “New York Times 1 ’ states that when the steamer- Vela was three miles oh the United States coast lecently, on her way to Germany, two young. Geriii,i!i stowaways, Gustave Danielzik and vYlliielm Kierserling, jumped overboard taking with them two lifebuoys, a gangway, and two oars. The incident having been reported by wi; re I ess- t<> the shore stations border patrol oil'i'cerv begani a watch along the twenty-live miles of coast between Fort I.auderdale and Miaiuri. The same niternoon Ki ensealing was taken to Fort Lauderdale on hoard a motor-boat, which bad .found him drifting in the seasupported by a. lifebuoy. ' .\t night .some fishermen passing aiding Dania- beach, «y lew miles south ot Port Lauderdale, saw the nude figure of a man sprawled in the tfliri, making feeble efforts to trawl ashore. It. was Oanielzik. He was more dead than alive, and was taken to a hos,’jital, where in broken Fnglish lie said: 1 “I could not swim. I. tried for hours. The waves kept carrying me fartheraway. I could not think. I gave up. 'ltieii someone push. .1 do not eare. Again a. .push and J. see. If ir-st 1 was scared. I think walrus. Then J know por, poise. “They do not want to hurt me—just Musib, like .1. am in the way. How many el them 1" Ido not know. Before 1 get there 1, know nothing.” ' CVd fishermen along the lower Florida coast say that the story is entirely plausible, as porpoises will bring in dead bodies in the same manner.
