like harbourmaster reported: The channel over the bar was straight, with about 12ft Bin. between the wails and 15ft on the bar at high water spring tides, and about 9ft. between the walk and lift Gin. cm the bar at high water neap titles. The bar was sounded on Jnlv 18 and lift Gin obtained between the* walls-and 14ft on the bar. with Bft iUin on the tide gauge. There were live arrivals and six departure since the last report, four going out on the ligh ts. The i hedge mas ter reported that the dredge had been taken off the slip and dredging resumed. Since resuming, 31 of) cmlbio yards of silt had been deposited at the mouth of the river. He assisted Captain Tinnev t.o sound on the 19th. the poorest sounding obtained showing 2ft oiu. more than indicated by the tide gauge. The crane at the heads had ibeen scraped and painted. ami also the roof of the shed ami walls had been repaired. Again he assisted to sound on August 7 and found the dredge areas showed much improvement. although the fiats in the vicinity of Puliley’si wharf showed slight shoaling. GKNEBAIB.

The Marine Department acknowledged receipt of proposed by-daws, but owing to an inadvertent flaw in the definition of the 'limits of the board, s area, the department refused acceptance and the by-laws will have to be re-printed.
