STRATFORD RACING CLUB.

ANNUAL REPORT. The thirty-seventh annual report of the Stratford Racing Club, to be presented at the annual meeting, states that the net profit carried to capital account was £2059 4s lOd, alter £4Ol 8s 3d had been written off the assets as depreciation. The sum of £3657 10s had been given in stakes at the annual race meeting, and the proiit on the race meeting account had amounted to £3393 6s 3d, after paying Government taxation amounting, to £4403 5 s 9d.

With the exception of the season 1919-1920, when the totalisator investments had reached £79,496 10s, the past year’s profit was the highest oil record since the inception of the club. The operations of the farm committee showed a pi’ofit of £3BB 17s 9d, which was a substantial increase on last year’s

returns. The erection of 20 additional loose boxes at a cost of £698 10s had been greatly appreciated by visiting owners and trainers. A further expenditure of £224 9s 2d on the race track last year marked its completion, the total cost being £9946 18s 6d. The thanks of the committee were due to all stewards and honorary officials. These had done excellent work during the race meeting. further tree-planting at the Pembroke Road entrance near the turnstiles had been done, making the new road an attractive drive for private cars. A five years’ lease of playing rights over the club’s property had been granted to the Stratford Gob Club. . further efforts made by the committee to secure a second permit for at one-dav race meeting had been without result; only seven permits were granted to the Taranaki province. The whole of the club’s property had been kept in good order under the supervision of the club’s caretaker, Hr R. Llovd.
