It is recognised that the SupermarineNapiers and also GJoster machines, which were designed to defejid Britain’s title in the Schneider Cup race, must have a top-speed of 3SO miles an hour. The world’s speed record .is 318.62 miles an hour made by the Italian, Major di Bernardi, on March 30 of this year.
