DEATH OF A NURSE.
INQUIRY INTO ALLEGATIONS. TREATMENT AT HOSPITAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 30. The North Canterbury Hospital Board held an inquiry to-day into the circumstances surrounding the death at the Christchurch Hospital, of Nurse Helen Janes. In addition to the members of the board, the district health officer and also the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. W. Pox, were present, as well as Mr W. J. Hunter representing the natron, Miss Muir. The oh, air man, Mr H. J. Otley, said that it was hoped the inquiry would be as full as possible, in order that the wliole matter might be cleared up onceand for all. Mrs Jones, mother of the dead nurse, in her evidence, said that the family felt the girl had been badly treated in that she had to spend l the last two weeks on her feet when she was not well. Witness had heard the matron say that if Nurse Jones were her nurse she would give her a good slapping. (Proceeding.)
