(From Our Own Correspondent.) PERSONAL. Mr. and 'Mrs. G-, W. King\have returned from a holiday visit to the South Island. Mr. and Airs. Haswell are at present in Eeilding. PUBLIC SCHOOLS ATHLETICS. The usual monthly meeting of the ■Paten and District Schools Amateur Athletic Association was .held on Saturday evening, Air. P. S. Finlay son presiding. The object of the meeting was to decide upon a date for the annual football and basketball tournament. It was finally decided that the tournament he held on Saturday,. August 4 if the Domain is available, and on the Saturday following if-ft is not. On 'the motion of the secretary it was decided to place on record the association's appreciation of tlie services rendered by Air. J. D. Pierc-ey, a member of the executive who is leaving the district. It was decided that the attention of teachers be drawn to the rule that it two teams in either A or B grade are entered from the same school they must be as nearly equal as possible. It was also resolved to play all the basketball games under the New Zealand Basketball Association rules. Air. F. Tarrant was appointed timekeeper . The matter of the date of the annual meeting was left in the hands of the president and secretary. Al iss C. La very is at present visiting Palmerston North. Dr. and Airs. Whiteside, of Rotorua, accompanied by Sister B. Everett (of the staff of the Napier Hospial) were in Patea on Afonday en route to AVellington.
