CHILDREN’S BALL.

As anticipated there was a very large attendance at the children’s fancy dress ball on Friday evening, many children and their parents coming from considerable distances. The ladies’ committee, consisting 6f Mesdames Mortimer, Houlahan, Edwards, Baker. Better, Power, Taylor, and Misses Buckeridge, Ward and Baker (2), had made complete arrangements, and to their energy the' credit of a most successful function was due. The hall had been nicely decorated,' and when the children paraded in their quaint dresses the scene was indeed a gay one. The ladies also upheld their reputation as cooks, the supper provided being firstclass. Alonte Carlo dance, Edna Thomas and Esther Parsons. Selling most tickets, Don Shearer and Alaclge Meuli. In presenting ,the prizes, Rev. C. \V. Solomon thanaed the ladies for the efficient manner in which they had organised the hall, and made special mention of Airs. Taylor, who had trained the children, and Miss Ward, who had played for the practices; also all those who had donated prizes. The committee was also under a debt of gratitude to Mr. and Airs. Paterson for acting as judges, a task which they had carried out to the satisfaction of all.

The children had possession of the floor until, 10 o’clock, when they were taken in to supper, and after them the adults were similarly treated. There were so many of the latter that the supper-room could not accommodate them at one sitting. The music for the dances was provided by Airs. Bennett .
