DACRE IN ENGLAND.
PLAYING DELIGHTFUL CRICKET,
The fallowing paragraph from “The Cricketer” will interest followers of the game in New. Zealand : “On the first two occasions on which the championship table was published this season it was seen that Gloucestershire ■ occupied' first position, with last years’ champions as runners-up. It was quite reminiscent of old times to find the western , team at the head of affairs and, altliongh the campaign is still young, it seems very probable that the side will be found high up when the season ends.
“So far their play in all departments has been not only sound but also brilliant, and, if Daere could play regularly, the team would rank as one of the strongest in the whole country. The New Zealander’s qualificatin will(, however, not be completed until early in 1930, hut he was drafted, into the side for the match with Oxford, and played delightful cricket in making 63 not out in. 40 minutes'. He hit three sixes, all off Mclntosh, and nine fours.”
