A Press Association message from Rotorua reports the death of Mr. Thomas McDowell, Mayor of Rotorua, aged 76, after three months’ illness. Deceased was a member of the Tauranga Harbour Board and other public bodies, and was universally respected. He leaves a widow, two sons and two daughters, all married. He was a native of Coatbridge. Scotland, and came- to the Dominion in 1863, settling first at Christchurch. He set up in business afterwards at Waimato, Waikari, Burwood and Mayfield.
