The president of the Haw era. Amateur Athletic Club (Mr W. A,. Spragg) received the following cable from Stan. Lay yesterday: “Threw one point six javelin two hundred and twenty-two feet nine inches to-day, regards' to all at home. Stan. Lay.”

For the information of those not acquainted with the measurement and weight of the javelin used in athletic contests, it might be as well to state that the international standard is that the measurement is not less than 8.5 feet (complete as thrown), and the weight is 1.61 b (800 grammes).
