(JNEMPLOYMENT AT HAMILTON. (By ’i>]egrapli—Brass Association.) HAMILTON, July 12. The question or providing relief for the unemployed was reconsidered by the Hamilton Borough Council last night. As the result of a sudden increase in applicants for relief to 80, it was decided to revoke the decision of a, week’s interval between the fortnightly periods of relief work and revert to fortnight intervals, as otherwise the available funds would be exhausted long before the end of the winter.

CHRISTCHURCH, July 12. The Hon. G. W. Russell announces his candidature for the Mid-Canter-bury seat as a- Liberal. No Labour candidate so far has been announced, but Mr. F. R. Cooke is a probable one. NEW BOROUGH NOT ADVISABLE. NAPIER, July 12. The commission to-day decided that it was. neither necessary nor advisable to form a borough consisting of Taradalo- and part of Green meadows. The Ta-radale Town Board was ordered to pay costs. STIPENDIARY STAFF PREFERRED HAMILTON. July 12. The Waikato Hospital Board to-day rejected a. suggestion to appoint local doctors as honorary members of tine staff, preferring tine present system, of a stipendiary ptaff.
