HAWERA TRACK NOTES. CBy Limited.) Cold wintry conditions prevailed at the racecourse this morning, when the Wellington engaged horses were galloped. The outside of the .course proper was available for these horses, and some interesting work was witnessed. The going was. very fair considering the recent trains. Paitonu and Royal Mint mere first to gallop, and: were responsible for a good work out over a mile, both horses keeping together to the half mile in 55J. Hem Royal Mint went ahead to lead Paitonu inlto the .straight by two lengths. The latter made up a lot of ground in the run home, but failed to reach Royal Mint by half a length in 1.54. It was the latter’s best effort foir some time. San Fer-o, was sent over three of the stepplejcliase fences, jumping well, afterwards doing a round of strong pace work. Ora zone and Bisox were companions over seven furlongs, keeping together throughout. .They ran the first three furlongs in 40se, the half-mile in 54sec, finishing up with Bisox in- front in 1.38 J. Partaga and Denier were given useful pace work on the sand track. Troilus, who is engaged in the hurdle events at Trentham, was given a work out by himself over a mile and a quarter, which he accomplished) in good style in 2.26, the last mile in 1.574- " , . Silvermine and Bonogne aroused interest on going to the six furlong rier post; there was not much difference in the weights. Bonogne got a slight advantage, at the start. _ which Silvermine soon made up,' leading at the first furlong and from thence on to the finish in 1.21. Cold Steel and Polyphemus . were given a round of tlie schooling hurdles. Cold Steel is showing an improvement in his jumping. Mr. F. Bluett’s Calapat has. again joined Martin Conway’s team, after being operated on and spelled. This youngster has grown and fu mi shed splendidly, and looks like fulfilling last sea son’s expectation s. Men dip is another .to join J. Flyer’s active brigade. looking in great condition to start work..
