TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Taranaki Land Board was held at New Plymouth on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Present: Messrs W. D. Armit (chairman), S. Blake, C. J. Ryan, N. R. Cleland, and H. A. Foreman. The following applications for land were approved: A. B. Payne, section 23, block XVI, Egmont S.D. (conditional) ; R. L. Raynor, section 19S Huatoki Settlement (conditional); O. S. Menefy, section 3, block IV, Kapara S.D. The application by S. H. Jenkins for a grazing tenancy of section block XII, and section 1, block XVI, Omona S.D.. was approved. Forty-four applications under the Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Act were considered, and of these six applications to' transfer were recommended, one deferred, and one refused. Four applications for exemption from residence were approved, and one refused ; two applications for advances on current account were recommended and two deferred. Thirty-five applications under the Deteriorated Lands Act were considered and various recommendations were made in regard to remission of rental, reclassification of land, reduction in capital value and advances for seeds and manures.
