New Zealand apples ex lonic, Port Adelaide, and Somerset- realised the following prices:—Stunners 10s to 12s. delYious Pis to 14s Jonathans 13s to 14 s.
There has bpen an interesting development in the fruit trade-in the first nit-rival of Chilean supples, the quality bf which surprised and pleased Go-vent-Garden experts. Thev mostly excited three inches in diameter and comprise Newtown Pippin and White Winter Pearnvains. All are beautifully clean, showy fruit, specially the Hoovers, and are well graded and attractively packed, although too big for English requirements* .realising 13s to 15s pe. case. .. One importer says that if Chile isends two and a quarter inches or two and -,i. half inch apples -she is likely to become a- serious competitor against the Dominions, as the .seasonal are coneurrent.
