Railwav communication was interrupted tor some days, 'but lias now been reopened. Dr. \\ ang assumed office as Minister for Foreign Affairs at Nanking on June 14. Early in June, Chiang-Kaishek resigned Id's posts of Commander-in-Crief of the army and chairman of the Military Council, but the latest reports indicate that he may withdraw his resignation. Tlie Chinese Charge d’Affaires in London has announced, under instructions from Nanking, tnat he will continue to represent China in this country.

This announcement was made’ to-day at Mukden, dating the demise at June 21 . Tlie Nationalist Central Political Council announces the change of the name of Peking to Peiping* meaning northern peace. A statement has l>een issued that the northern city of ancient art treasures and historic remains will remain the centre of culture ancl will worthily fill a place in Chinese national life, but as the political capital of the republic (Peking) is dead and must give way to Nanking, the name of the province of Chihli has also been changed to Hopei. While the control of Peking is metropolitan, it is regarded that Chihli, will come under provincial control.
