A CONCERT PAKTY

The I'll eat re was well filled on Wednesday to greet the concert organised in aid of the Opunake Croquet Club. Tile first part of the programme consisted of a well staged concert and the .second' was ai two-act comedy. An orchestra' consisting' of Messrs ]>. Richards (piano)), G. Walker (violin), O. Humphries (cornet),) and Airs Watt (viol'in); played the accompaniments and rendered two well-played overtures. The following ladies and gentlemen oontiiilltmted to the excellent programme : Alisa Burton (Indian song in costume), and as an encore “Peter Pan”;

ATLss Al. "P. Healey gave two delightful exhibitions of fancy dancing, which were much, appreciated, the dancer being recalled several times. Airs C. Terri ek sang “Love’s Own Kiss” and as an encore, “J. ioye the Aloon.” A song and dance 1 by a. ballet consisting of the Aliases Al. Brunette, D. Glouston, S. Jenkins, G. Hammond and E. Hindi in a striking black and white costume was delightfully rendered, the solo part being well sung by Air Pollock. A vioil n duet ‘‘Sainte 3>’Ainour’ ’ was ar-ti'-tlcalily played by Mrs Watt and Mr G. Walker. Another appreciative-item was “Afy Blue Heaven” daintily presented by Airs Church, while a ballet comprising Mieses Brunette. Clous ton, Jenkins, Hammond and .Hindi,, with .Messrs E. Smith, K. Dawkins, Pollock, F. Loesoli, and S. Fiord rendered a .delightful dance, during which Aft Pollock sang “The Floral Dance,” and' for an encore gavfe “Red Devon by the Sea.”

“Poached; Figgs and Pearls.” was the title of the two-act comedy, which was’ made up of the following caste : Lady Claire (Mi%\ Church), Lady Alabel (Airs Davies), Duchess of F'ro-om (Airs Ferrick), Lady Penzance (Mte§ Burton). Jimmie (Air Dawkins), Aliss Devon (Alias Chambers), George (Air E<.' Smith) and Bill (Mar S. Ford), was devCrly acted and reflected the greatest credit upon the various performers. ", At the conclusion of the concert Airs Watt , on behalf of the Croquet' Club) thanked the performers for their assistance in presenting. the concert and comedy, particularly-Airs Jenkins, who bad produced the comedy acts. Numerous bouquets and boxes of chocolates were then presented. The performers were after wards entertained' at supper at the Vice Regal dining rooms by the Croquet- Club. ;;
