Unique decorations s, were fashioned by the novel arrangeI menb of greenery entwined with rows u of coloured electric lights. An excel- - lent supper was provided and super--1 vised by Mr B. Vinsen, of Stratford. Boulton’s orchestra rendered .the latest dance nximhers, in their own inimitable •style, the vocal choruses being particularly appreciated. Supper extras were played by Messrs F. Boulton, H. Scott, L. Davison, and, W. Evans, with a nov- : el ty piano duet by Messrs H. Scott , and L. Davison by special request. Mr l W. Campbell capably officiated as M.C. ’FOOTBALL. The YYhangamomona Sub-Union competitions games played on Saturday, , June 9 resulted as follows: Strathmore 12 v. Mangaone 8. at I IVhanga. Tahora 12 v. Tangarakau 10, at Taugarakau. Whangamomona, a bye. ■Mangaone battled bald in their game with Strathmore, but the latter team showed more pace and combination. Air Murphy capably refereed. The match played on the local ground between Tahora and TangaraJtau showed the former team in fin© trim. The. home pack seemed to be lacking tlieir usual, dash during the first spell. T. Brennan rearranged his men for the second half tand they fought hard, but failed to equalise the score. Mr Malcolm refereed. Saturday’s play for the Wipiti Cup brought the table of points to date as under: Strathmore leading with 4 points; Tahona, Mangaone, Whianga, and Tangarakau with 2 points each. This close running is causing much keenness among players and spectators alike and some good exhibitions of football are expected before the final decision is reached.

OBITUARY. Deep regret was felt at the news of the sudden death of Airs J. Manson, which took place at Christchurch on Friday, June 8. Airs Alanson has been in poor health for some time, and w,as spending a holiday of convalescence in Christchurch. Sincere sympathy is extended to Air Alanson and family from all in the district.
