IMPORTATION OF PETROL.
CANTERBURY SCHEME DISCUSSED. (UNITED PkESs ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRO TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.! (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) SYDNEY, May 22. Whether motorists should import their own petrol, as is done by the Canterbury (New Zealand) Automobile Association, is a subject of discussion in Sydney, hut representative men -disapprove. They argue that the petrol price is not- unreasonable, and country charges merely have, freight added, while the distributors work all hours and 1 every day of the week for the convenience of motorists. One prominent commercial man, Mr. Boyd Edkins, declared that the Canterbury experiment would not- last long. Another. Mr. Murdoch, M.L.C.. expressed the opinion that Canterbury must be getting cheap Mexican spirit.
