SCHOOL SECTION. The school section of the South Taranaki u inter Show lias always been given tile most prominence.- by Hie management, on account of the value that is attached tp.it from the voting people's point of view. The 'schedule which is comprised of 118 classes, oners wonderful scope and interest both to the primary and secondary schools. There are many sections, all of which are most important in. their own particular sphere, but probably in a larming community such as ours, the farm and garden and forestry sections take place oi- prominence. The work or the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs is encouraged in every way. — This ~ear, the *outh Taranaki District is divided into six groups.' There, are good cash prizes m each class, together with a championship prize in noth the Mangold and the Carrot, sections. School Forestry has always a warm spot in the South Taranaki Winter Show, as it was originally started here. This year there are twelve classes," and both the schools and the individual scholars are offered., wonderful opportunities in displaying samples of their year s- work. Messrs- . Syme and Co.,' Hawera, offer - a Challenge Shield in this section.. . .. Cither classes include Writing, Mapmaking, Drawing, Lettering, Modelling and Sewing, .-and probably the most important additional class is that lor Essays. This year,' H.M. Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr L. B. Beale, has generously donated £lO in casn prizes, £5 for girls and £5 for boys, attending primary schools in Aevv Zealand. The subject of the, Bovs’ Essay is “Reasons why .New Zealand should support Empire Trade,” and that for the girls is “How can New Zealand best assist the Mother Country.” ... . With such a full and comprehensive schedule as this, there •is no doubt there will be excellent entries ill the school section. Schedules have' been circulated freely amongst all the schools of New Zealand, and if any school teacher desires a copy- of the schedule, it can he. obtained. upon application to the Manager, Box 79, Hawera. ....

Entries close in this section on. Thursday, June 7tli and oil the same day all exhibits,- with the exception of'those in the field root and forestry se.tions, must reach' the Show.
