As the outcome of a conference between the mineoAvners and the union representatives, the OAvners state that the only method of keeping the mines going is by longer hours. The OAvners in making this statement, declare that if metal prices fall no loAver than at present, the OAvners Avill do their best to avoid shutting doAvn more mines, and Avill try to absorb more unemployed miners. The unions are- considering the proposals, but it is believed that they Avill reject them.
