BEAM WIRELESS.
TESTS BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND CANADA/ (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) MONTREAL, April 30. It is expected that a beam wireless service between Canada and Australia will lie. opened for business shortly. Regular tests have been carried out for some weeks and perfect reception and transmission is reported. it is understood that all that remains is the arrangement of rates, and once this is settled the service will be put into operation. The company has been conducting tests on 25 metres, usually between one and ten in the morning, Montreal time, although aetu-, ally, the beam has been worked at all hours ox the day and night. Different wave lengths have been tried for daylight sending, and the allotment will be made in a few days, after engineers determine which gives the strongest signals. It is understood that a wireless system between New York and Montreal i.s already working, and it will be possible with the inauguration of ttie Canada Australia service for the United States to take advantage of the high speer. system to Australia.
