In the House of Representatives, Mr. Seullin (Labour) moved' that in the opinion of the House the Government, by the sale of the Commonwealth Line, had sacrificed a valuable public asset and placed Australian shippers at the mercy of shipping combines. adding that the line, which was sold for £1.900.000. was worth fully £3,000,000. The motion amounts to one of censure on the Government, and was stormily debated in the Senate.. The 1 Government was also criticised on the sale of the ships by the Leader of the Opposition, he declaring that of the many sins committed by the Government the sale of the- ships 1 was the greatest. He then moved a motion similar to that- moved by Mr. Seullin in the House of Representatives.
