THE SUPREME MATTER.
REORGANISATION OF BRITISH TRADE. ALONG IMPERIAL LINES. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, April 25. Addressing the Colonial Institute today on the Empire in the new era,' Sir Alfred Mond said it was imperative that British trade should be reorganised inter-Imperially. This was now of supreme importance. No nation ever had: the opportunity Britain possessed of co-operation with its Dominions, he said. If the opportunity were not taken shortly it would never recur. The capitalist trade union conference which he had initiated had exceeded the most sanguine expectations. Incidentally he was interested to see the Australian Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon S. M. Bruce) endeavouring to form a con fere nee for a similar pin-pose in an attempt to reconcile capital and labour difficulties'. It was useless to attempt to burke the fact that such difficulties were rife. Australia’s industrial development was held) back thereby. No wonder British investors thought twice ■about erecting factories there. He commended the Canadian legisation compelling an inquiry preceding Inborn* stoppages. |
