A long series of attacks upon opponents of tlho Government by professional patriots culminated on Monday night in the assassination of three lawyers and th.o serious wounding of two others, while conferring on how to prevent the withdrawal of criminal charges against the chief of police at the town of Wakayama, near Osaka. The assailants, seven in number, are members of the Wakayama National Spirit Preservation Society. They forced their way into the conference, demanding that the charges' against the police of maltreating political prisoners prior to the election be dropped. Meeting with a refusal, (the thugs drew daggers, attacking the lawyers viciously.

The assailants all surrendered to the police.
