Only 100 yards from pits where shells and ammunition valued at over £250,000 are stored, a grass fire broke out at five o’clock on Sunday evening outside the high wall which encircles the military camp at Narrow Neck. .It was quickly suppressed. The explosives are stored in pits under the ground, and it would take immense heat to cause an explosion. Nevertheless the incident caused a scare.
