“DAWN” FILM
ITS EXHIBITION IN U.S.A. GERMANS WANT TO STOP IT. AFRAID OF ITS NFLUENCE, (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Received 10.10 a.m. to-day. WASHINGTON, April 11. Fearful lest the exhibition of the British film “Dawn” should reawaken anti-German feeling, German diplomatic and consular officials are making lenewed efforts to prevent its showing. The State Department has taken no official cognisance of the growing protests and will not unless formally approached. The German Embassy is considering this step, though it is reluctant to arouse a public discussion similar to that which occurred in England. In the meantime, the German Consulate at New York has succeeded in exacting a promise from the controllers of many important theatres that thev will not exhibit it.
