MISSIONARY COUNCIL.

USEFUL CONFERENCE CLOSED. PRAYER FOR RENUNCIATION OF AVAR. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 2.25 p.m. to-day. JERUSALEM, April 8. The Bishop of Salisbury was the preacher at. the closing service of the Missionary Council. There was impressive singing at the. Easter service by men and women of the Russian Cathedral choir. It was significant that the resolution of the closing session urged missionaries not to lay claim on their Governments for armed defence of missionaries and mission properties. Another resolution urged them to exert an unremitting effort and prayer for the renunciation of war.

Dr. Mott, of New York, the chairman, described it as the most courageous meeting in 40 years’ experience. He. was convinced that it would have far-reaching effects. —Australian Press Association.
