CHANGING NAMES.
SUPPRESSION OF GERMAN. ITALIAN REGIME IN TYROL. BY OaBI.E-PBESS ASSOUJA'I lON —COPYRIUU'I LONDON, March 12. The special correspondent of the “Daily Express” in the southern Tyrol says it is a strange fact that everyone who died in southern Tyrol since October, 1927, bears an Italian name. This is due to a Fascist miracle. The prefects decree that all the dead must be buried under Italian names. In certain parishes they even decree that the graves of bygone generations must bear Italian names. “It is easy to see the humour of such an order,” says the correspondent, “but it is a different matter for children burying their father or mother under a strange, outlandish name. Tradesmen, doctors, and lawyers are compelled to erase their German Christian names and replace them with Italian ones.”
