Mr. H. E. Holland, M.P., Loader of the Opposition, delivered a pre-session-al address in the Town Hall at Westport, on Saturday evening, dealing with, amongst other matters, the Boiler Gorge railway (on which at last there seems a prospect of vigorous construction as hut accommodation has been provided for a large number of men), the coastal road, unemployment, the Imperial Conference, rural credits, land and income tax, the petrol tax, the loan to the Rladio Broadcasting Association. the Signapore naval base, local industries and tariffs ,the 1.0. and O. Act, the coming industrial conference and Samoa, the latter on the lines of his pamphlet, “Revolt of the Samoans.” At the conclusion a vote of thanks was accorded the speaker and the Mayor (Mr. Harkness), who presided.—Press Association.
