SOUTH TARANAKI PICNIC. PLEASANT DAY AT EVERITT RESERVE. Many attractions have been given, and much good work has done to popularise the work of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, utiring the past years of its life of usefulness. But'none has been more popular than the annual picnio held yesterday at the Everitt Reserve, three miles east and l south of Inglewood, in which a company of over 600 people was present, enjoying the natural beauties of bush and river and spending altogether a capital day’s outing.. Picnic spots were in profuse abundance, and these were thoroughly explored, the ideal swimming) pools being specially popular. During the day a. very interesting series of numbers were given in good style by tlie Inglewood Municipal Band.
A special invitation had been given by the Inglewood Chamber of Commerce, and all the members present spared no trouble to make t-he outing pleasant. These efforts were cordially acknowledgedl by Mr. D. J. Malone, president of the South Taranaki Automobile Association, who added that this was the first organised picnic held, and be- hoped it was only the first of many more. He thanked the band, Mr. Johnson for the use of a paddock, and Messrs. Robinson and Pope for' hot water supplied. Speaking of the occasion, Mr. J. Sutherland, chairman of the Inglewood Domain Board, said the reserve contained 167 acres, and was becoming more popular every year. He hoped it would become one of the best known in the province. During the day a collection was taken for the band, and 1 realised a) satisfactory amount. The work done by a local committee in mapping out the route with black and gold flags was very useful and much appreciated.
