OPERA HOUSE, TO-NIGHT. JACKIE COOGAN IN “JOHNNY GET YOUR lIAIR CUT.” Jackie Coogan grows up, and at the mature age of twelve steps into a role, specially created for him, that makes him the wonder and idol of screen fans everywhere. “Johnny Get Your Hair Cut,” which opens a two-night season at the Opera House to-night, is a. picture made to order. It is a slashing, exciting and action-crammed romance of the turf, with the boy star in a part that brings gasps of amazement and delight. Watch him save a girl from drowning! Watch him ride a 100 to 1 “dark horse” and win! Watch him thunder down the straight with the crowd yelling madly. Laugh at his funny little ways, feel your heart warm towards this wonder-child! Comedy, pathos, love, amazing thrills, tense drama —all woven with brilliant skill into a perfect picture. The story is that of an orphan who tries to obtain a position as an apprentice jockey. With all the ingenuity of a determined adolescent, Jackie works his way into the confidence of “Mother Slapp,” a kindly woman who keeps a boarding-liouse for jockeys. He meets a derelict of the race track who owns a horse, and the two enter into a pact. The events which lead up to the big race are frill of mischief and fun, with Jackie ever present on the screen As part of his role in tlie lastnamed picture, Jackie really did have his hair cut. This look clipping was a symbol. It marked the graduation of Jackie to more grown-up parts, from the very small boy roles which had given him a unique place in the affection of millions of picture-goers. There will he. a big special matinee to-morrow (Saturday), commencing at 2 p.m.
