TARANAKI OIL WELLS.

WEEKY REPORT. [BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] GISBORNE, Jan. 24. Taranaki Oilfields report that the Waiapu No. 2 well has reached a depth of 3080 feet in shale with the 83-inch diameter casing, sunk to 3070 feet. At the Gisbome No. 1 well cementing has proved ineffective. Endeavours are now being made to free the casing and cement again. At the Gisborne No. 2 well construction work is in progress.
