MATCH OVER PETROL DRUM. (BY T El, EG HA PH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WESTPORT, Jan. 23. Through a petrol drum exploding, a j-outn, William Lowe, of Sergeant’s Hill, received severe injuries to his leg. He was removed to hospita 1. The petrol drum had water passing through it for two days. At tne time of the accident a brother of the injured hoy was sitting on top of the drum. He struck a match and passed it over the bung hole. Tne explosion blew out the end of the drum, Lowe receiving the full force. He will probably lose his leg. OLD DWELLING DESTROYED. OPOTIKI, Jan. 23. Fire totally desti-oyed an old wooden two-storev dwelling owned by Mr. G. S. Moody early this morning. The ftomse was oecnuied by a Maori, P. Hut a. The building, one of the oldest in the borough, was about 50 years, old. The insurances are not available. CAPSIZE ON CORNER. TAURANGA, Jan. 23. A motor bus owned by some natives of Bethlehem capsized yesterday afternoon in turning a corner in the borough. The native driver was unhurt, and the only other occupant, a Maori girl named Dolly Riritahi. was removed to hospital with injuries to a leg and abrasion. Her condition is not serious. The bus was considerably damaged.
