Seamen rushed the shipping master’s office, anxious to resume work on the strike-affected ships. The ..-ompauies have announced a long list of immediate inter-State sailings. The seamen still hop*? that the owners will not only agree to a conference but will meet, the men half way in the settlement of the differences regarding the holding of irregular stopwork meetings. Received 10.15 a.m. to-day.

* SYDNEY, Jan. 14. There has been a general resumption of work by seamen at all ports' except Alelbourne, where, it is stated, no official report lias been received from the headquarters of the union. Some vessels will be idle for some time yet in order that the sailings may fit in with the time-table. All cargo vessels will be manned immediately.
