There has been a serious development at the hydro-electric works at Florabora owing to pumice which comes down the Waikato river going through the screens and lodging in the turbine gates. The power may have to be cut off temporarily at any time, and if such drastic action "is necessary at is intended to cut off from 10 o’c’eck to-night till 3 a.m. to-morrow. In that event a wide area will be aifected, but some of the districts concerned possess standby plants, while relief may come from Auckland.
