ADRIFT ON ICE FLOE.
•CHILDREN SWEPT OUT TO SEA. RESCUED AFTER FOUR HOURS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT BERLIN, Jan. 3.
The tide at Wilhelmshaven dislodged an iee floe in the harbour on which seven children were playing. A swift current carried the floe out to sea and every attempt at rescue so far has failed.
The battleship 'Schlesien, with a number of tugs with blazing searchlights, sailed in pursuit, and portable searchlights were mounted at Jade Bay on the coast.
The cries of the children were heard two hours after the mishap, but there are now only faint hopes of rescue. LONDON, Jan. 4. The seven children were rescued after drifting for four hours.
