AN UNIQUE INCIDENT.
SUCCESSFUL POLICE CHASE. WANTED MAN OVERTAKEN. BY CABLE—TRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 12.25 p.m. to-day. BRISBANE, Jan. 4. lor several weeks thefts have been frequent in the Camoweal district, ending in the stealing of a valuable motor oar, in wliicli the thieves headed for the Northern 'Territory. The police, realising that it was impossible to overtake them in another car, hired a ’plane, , which flew from Cloneurry, picked up the police at Cainoweal and continued in pursuit. They located the four fugitives camped over the border and they were arrested at the point of t)he revolver, but claimed that as they were in Northern Territory, Queensland police had no jurisdiction. Knowing that the ineq would have to return next morning over the Queensland border . for water, the police released them, buo re-arrested them when they re-entered Queensland. This is the first occasion in Australia that a ’plane has neen used to reach criminals.
