OBITUARY.

W. .T. C. MacDONALD. ELTHAM BOROUGH INSPECTOR. General regret was expresesd in. Ei-tha-ni on the announcement of the death, yesterday of Mr W. J. C. MacDonald, who had for the past three years occupied the position of inspector under the Eltham Borough Council. Mr MacDonald was in enjoyment of his usual health until Friday last, when, he was obliged to take to his bed in an endeavour to ward off an attack of pneumonia. The after-effects of gassing at Messines during his war service, however, militated against his chances of recovery. Previous to his appointment as borough inspector three years ago, Mr MacDonald held a temporary clerkship at the Eltham railway station. In each position he proved a very popular officer. As borough inspector he carried out his duties with tact, discrimination and a consequent absence of friction.. Deceased was born at Dunedin in 1897 and saw service during the Great War as a member of the 19th Specialists, machine gun section, with which, body he left Now Zealand in 191 G. On his "return to the Dominion, Mr MacDonald took up residence at Eltham, marrying Miss Ousey, of Mangatold, in 1920." To Mrs MacDonald and her three young children (two girls and a boy) there will be extended the sympathy. of a very wide circle of friends.
