The second incendiary fire this year at Pasay, in the Nipa district, killed three children and made 2500 Manilans homeless. Seven hundred dwellings were destroyed and the damage is estimated at 500,000 dollars. A thousand people were threatened with death from suffocation owing to the intense> heat of the blaze or the falling walls and leaped into the waters of Manila Bay in an effort to escape.
