Of the extensions effected, one electric stove has been added to the- system. Purchase of Power. — 1 n answer to the board’s query relative to this subject whether it is profitable to purchase power in bulk and retail same, I have to report that the business is profitable even under present conditions. Power is being purchased at present to supply a limited number of milking motors owing to our own plants being loaded to capacity. As these motors are- operating simultaneously for two short periods daily, the power purchased for their requirements is naturally expensive if it is not practicable to make use of some of the rest of the 24 hours, for it is obvious that the amount of profit to be> made from power purchased in bulk on a maximum demand basis depends upon the diversity of the system; in other words, the many uses this power may be put to without' increasing the demand established by the milking motor load. To turn this power into a. very definite profit can only b© brought about by introducing an educational campaign into the board’s area for the purpose of building up a domestic cooking load. Electric cooking has now been developed in this area, and presents a very profitable load owing to its diversity compared with other loading on the system. FOREMAN’S REPORT. The foreman reported having been engaged on side track work on upper Manaia Road, on which line he lias started with bitumen between the stock road and the Kaponga dairy factory. He proposed patching on the same length of road in the immediate future.

A request by the fire brigade for the board to effect repairs to the guttering of the station building roof was agreed to. HEALTH OFFICER’S REPORT Mr. R. Gooding, Health Officer, reported one case of pneumonia (in October). A house to house inspection of the major portion of the town are si- had been carried out, but beyond restitution of internal fittings there had been nothing of vital importance t-o report upon. In the matter of drainage and plumbing, everything was quite in order, thanks to the efficient oversight of the town clerk. A billiard saloon license was granted to Mr. J. H. Adams. Accounts amounting to £ISOO were passed for payment.
