Members oi the Auckland Hospital Board view with, alarm, tne present, uneinp oyonent position and heavy dram on tbs board's resources for cnaiutaDie aid. , , ~ The chairman stated at yesteruay s meeting that £22,000 was placed on the estimates for relief, but that sum had already been spent, with iouir months of the financial year still to run. He anticipated tfiat such expenditure would total £30,000 by March 31. The board had commenced the year with £14,000 overdraft and would finish with on© of Mr M. J. Savage said that they should draw the Government’s attention to the matter. There were SUO able-bodied men in Auckland at Christmas unable to find work, and sureny that wasn’t the board’s responsibility. The chairman said that he had been unable to get into touch with the lytHon. J. G. Coates, but would see him on his return to Auckland.
