ACTIVITIES IN HAWERA. BREAKING-HP CEREMONY The breaking-up ceremony of tlic Girl Guide companies in Hawera was held this afternoon in the Foresters’ Hall, when certificates and badges were presented. Reports on the work of the year were submitted as follows: No. 1 Company (Mrs King).:—The strength of the company had numbered 31 guides at the beginning of the year. Five had left and 15 had been admitted leaving the strength 41. Two Guides were working and two were hot enrolled. Tenderfoot tests had been passed by 13, and second class badges had been qualified for by 17. Proficiency badges in the various branches to the nu pi her of 75 had been gained. No. 2 Company (Miss Ballantine). — There were 36 guides on the roll and five were to be enrolled. Second class badges had been qualified for by 2'G guides and 44 proficiency badges had been gained of which 10 were laundress, 13 domestic, S child nurse, 2 needlewoman, 5 thrift, 2 cook, and 2 ambulance.
Enrollments were made as follows: No. 1 'Company, Pearl Gone and Betty Miller; No. 3 Company, Nanev Spragg, Barbara Woods, Betty Woods, Esmc Manners, Francos McDonald. Betty Powdrell was invested a patrol leader of No. 2 'Company. Certificates gained at the recent flower show and badges qualified for at recent tests were presented by Mrs E. A. Pa coy. president of the local association, to No. 1 Company and by Mrs Henderson. a former captain and now vicepresident, to No. 2 Company.
