USE OF CRYSTAL PALACE. LONDONERS PROTEST. A fUn DEPUTATION. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGITI Received 9.50 a.m. to-day. LONDON. Dee. 16. Remarkable scenes accompanied a protest to the City of London Corporation against greyhound racing at the Crystal Palace, as a result of which the corporation decided to take steps to obtain an injunction to restrain the trustees of the Palace, also- the Greyhound Association, (fixnn 'conducting the sport. Thousands thronged the Guildhall, wearing white badges with the words “Crystal Palace’« Protest.” The Bishop of Woolwich headed the deputation and presented a petition signed by 44,(XX) South Londoners, including seven bishops. Sir Ernest Lamb, a trustee of the Crystal Palace, in moving the resolution after the withdrawal of the deputation, attacked greyhound racing, which, he said, was a device for the exploitation of gambling and the betting evil. It was unbelievable that the \ ices of humanity should be encouraged. England, after all, was a ( hristian country.
