NGAERE SCHOOL.
BREAK-UP CEREMONY. A very successful break-up function took place at Ngaere on Thursday, when a welcome was accorded to about a. hundred parents and friends by the chairman of the commiLttee (Mr f„ E. Coleman) and by the headmaster (Mr T. Taylor) and staff. The school had been artistically decorated for the occasion. An excellent programme was provided by the children, comprising the following numbers : Pianoforte solo by Rhoda Phillips,- “Nursery Rhymes”' by the infants; recitations by the infants and standards; folk dances by the infants; song “Now is the Month of May,” by the juniors; folk dance by •Standards I and II; song by Miss M. Leach; rose song and dance by juniors in costume; “The First Noel,” by the school, and “The Light is. Dying,” also by the school. Certificates for good attendance were presented to Rose Schumacher, Irene Bird, Girosvenot Johns (standard II), Wilfred Johns (standard HI), Philip Bird, Eileen Piper and Ray Nagel (standard’ IV). Proficiency certificates were won by the following: Ellinor McKee, J., W. Taylor, B. Harrison, J. 11. Taylor, L. Watkins, F. McGarra, W. Brock and D. Tarrant.
The cliairman, in a brief address, referred to. the good work done by the headmaster and staff as shown by the report, and this was acknowledged by the headmaster.
The distribution of gifts concluded a. successful function.
