HAWERA MAIN SCHOOL.

ADMINISTRATIVE WORK. MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Hawera School 'Committee was held last evening when there were present: Messrs. J. W. Harding (chairman), C. W. Brough (secretary), C. M. Haggett, G. H. Westwood, F. C. Roden, J. A. Dalgetty, W. Entwistle, L. H. Carrel, and F, A. Bates (headmaster). An apology for absence was received from Dr. W. M. Tomson. A letter from the Education Board was received, stating that a grant had been approved for the erection of infant buildings, less £144 for furniture, in accordance with tne board’s application. The secretary read a letter from the board with regard to an application for the purchase of books for the school library. The Department had authorised a subsidy of £5 14s towards this purpose. Accounts amounting to £5 5s 7d were passed for payment. The treasurer (Mr. Carroll) reported a credit of £ls 11s lid while a subsidy and other moneys were duo. The liabilities approximated £27. A proposed claim by' Mr. H. 'C. Fake for the value of a crop of hay was considered in committee. In open meeting it was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the chairman with power to act. In closing the meeting, the chairman wished the other members of the committee the compliments of the season. These were reciprocated.
