ALLEGATIONS' OF BLACKMAIL. (by telegraph—press association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 14. William Patrick Ivelleher, aged 29, a cleric employed by the Customs Department, pleaded guilty to-day to IJ charges of theft of monies totalling £‘94L The accused was committed for In a written statement Jvellehei stated that he loaned a man £7O eighteen months ago on condition it- was r-epaid next morning; lie did not receive the money back, the man subsequently saying he had a witness to m-ove Ivelleher had not given him the £7O and also accusing the latter ot dishonest acts while gauging on the wharf He was afraid of being exposed Ivelleher repeatedly paid lnm sums or money since from the customs cash and by juggling the figures managed to balance the books each day.
